New York [US], August 9: The global Gmail outage occurred at around 2am on August 9 (Vietnam time), with the US, Europe, Australia, Asia and South America affected, news.com.au reported .
About 82% of the issues were related to the email sending feature, and the remaining 15% were problems with the direct connection to the server.
DownDetector, a website that tracks online technology issues, recorded more than 5,000 reports of Gmail outages in the US.
The incident occurred at noon on August 8 in the US, during rush hour and occurred across the US, especially in New York City (New York State).
In Australia, the number affected is much lower, with only about 75 reports submitted as of 7am 9.8 (local time).
Gmail is one of the most popular email services in the world with about 1.8 billion accounts.
It's not yet clear how many users were affected by the latest global Gmail outage.
" Google is aware of this situation," the official Gmail service account announced on X (formerly Twitter). According to the latest update, Google said its engineers are actively making some adjustments and hope to restore the service to affected accounts soon.
In addition, the Google Drive service also encountered problems, with users being unable to upload images to Google Drive.
