Fujairah [UAE], November 24: H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, was awarded the Medal of Honour by the University of Bari Aldo Moro in Italy, in recognition of his vision in promoting the status of philosophy and cultural development in the region, as well as his contributions to projects aimed at spreading knowledge, enlightenment, and thought. The award also reflects the great admiration from the entire academic community at the Italian university for the establishment of the House of Philosophy in Fujairah and its ongoing Arab and international initiatives. It symbolises the longstanding friendship and a mark of partnership between the Italian philosophical community and the philosophical community in Fujairah.
The award was presented to H.H. by Professor Paolo Ponzio, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Philosophy at the university. The accolade is the highest academic honour given by the university to distinguished individuals who have achieved historic accomplishments in the fields of science, art, and the humanities.
The award-giving ceremony took place at Al Rumaila Palace in Fujairah in the presence of Sheikh Dr. Rashid bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Chairman of the Fujairah Culture and Media Authority, and Luca Maria Scarantino, President of the International Federation of Philosophical Societies (FISP).
The ceremony was part of the closing session of the Fourth Fujairah International Philosophy Conference, which was held under the patronage of the Crown Prince of Fujairah and organised by the House of Philosophy in Fujairah.
